Fun and Addictive!5
Scrabble Flash is a great way to get your Scrabble fix if you're short on time, have nobody to play Scrabble with, or if you're just looking for a different twist on the game. There are three different versions of Scrabble Flash that you can choose from. Game 1 is for playing solo, Game 2 is for playing with friends, and Game 3 is also for playing with friends, but adds elimination to the mix.

Scrabble Flash gets big points from me for using 2032 button batteries- these are readily available and don't require a trip to the obscure battery store. The game gets even bigger points from me for including the first set of batteries with the game. There's hardly any set-up. Just peel the films off the faces of the five game-pieces, push the power button on each piece, and go to it! The instructions and rules are super-straightforward- if you're playing by yourself, it's not even that necessary to read the instructions. Also included is a little slip of paper telling you what to do if your gamepieces experience technical difficulties- there's a reset button on the back of each.

I love that there's no time at all to belabor gameplay with strategy. You build 3-5-letter words as quickly as you can before your time runs out. I also love that once you get the game out of its package, it stores in a cute little portable box, and the instructions fit right inside.

The only thing that gives me pause with Scrabble Flash is that it counts words that I don't even know are words, and you move too fast to double-check. This isn't a huge deal, especially if you're playing this game with others, but when it really grinds my gears is when I'm playing by myself, and I get to the end of my round, and I find out that although I created 10 words, for instance, the game says there were 23 words maximum to be created with the letter combination I was given for that round. Not a big deal, but if you're a little obsessive-compulsive and also have a big vocabulary, this might get on your nerves, too. Just be warned.

Over all, though, Scrabble Flash is great!

Educational fun for the whole family4
Once I managed to get all five electronic Scrabble tiles out of the box (which, believe me, was a massive battle), I really enjoyed this game. The technology is innovative and quite impressive. The game is easy to figure out and fun to play. It's a game that I think will be especially good for families to play with younger children who are trying to improve their reading and writing skills. The only complaint I have regarding game play is that the tiles are kind of small, and the only person who has a good view of them is the person whose turn it is. So, if it's not your turn, it's kind of boring to just sit there because there's nothing much for you to watch. Similarly, a parent trying to assist a child with spelling would have to lean close over the kid's shoulder in order to help. Overall, though, this is a fun new approach to the classic game of Scrabble.

Lots of fun; especially in one player mode4
This scrabble game consists of a sleek little black box that you can slide the 5 scrabble "tiles" into for storage. The tiles are about an inch and a half square and maybe half an inch thick.

There are three different games you can play. The first is to see how many words you can make by lining up the letters that appear on the tiles in a set amount of time. I thought this game was the most fun. At the end it will give you your score and how many words could have been made.

The second game you play is one where you are given a set amount of time to form five letter words from the letters that appear, you see how many 5 letter words you can make before time runs out. Again a it gives you your score at the end.

The third game can be played with multiple people. Each person gets a finite amount of time to make a five letter word in the time given then the tiles are passes onto the next player and they are given five new letters. If you can't make a five letter word before time runs out then you are OUT. This was the least fun; although I only played with two people and it may have been more fun with more. We were having trouble making five letter words in the short amount of time given, so we were both out almost always on the first or second turn. Maybe we just have poor letter scrambling skills; but I thought the time given should have been a bit longer.

I never had any trouble with the tiles "talking" to each other. This could get a bit pricey when you have to replace all of the watch batteries that these things use. The little black box these tiles comes in is super nice and really makes the game a nice one to travel with.

Overall excellent and addictive one player games. We didn't like the multi-person game as much but it may have been fun with more than two people; we thought the time given for each person for the multi player game was too short. Great game for travel, very compact.
